Job Summary:

Reporting to the Regional Executive Chef and the Executive Chef of Culinary Innovation UK&I, you will be responsible for culinary innovation and excellence within the UK&I. The role involves ideation, innovation, developing, implementing, and overseeing culinary initiatives, including process standardization, purchasing compliance, initiative adherence, and product quality and consistency. Effective client engagement, concept ideation, and delivery are also key responsibilities, requiring a strong aptitude for innovation and new product development.


The role involves regular travel between Ashford (Surrey), Heathrow, and Gatwick locations, as well as support for outstation locations as needed. Driving and commuting are essential for this role.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver customer expectations, business objectives, and targets to optimize company resources.
  • Collaborate closely with menu development teams and Account Managers to meet customer expectations and maximize profitability.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and requirements.
  • Establish and meet internal customer requirements.
  • Analyze performance information, identify issues and solutions, and report on progress as required.
  • Look for innovations and support continuous improvement efficiencies within the department and across the business.
  • Oversee internal quality assurance checks and make necessary changes.
  • Participate in menu cycle changes/start-ups and meetings related to customer issues and menu development.
  • Communicate, engage, and develop team members to maximize their contribution and create succession planning opportunities.
  • Optimize manpower, product, and equipment levels for a productive work environment.
  • Resolve operational issues in a cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements related to food safety, health and safety, security, and environment controls.
  • Lead and manage direct reports, including performance reviews.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.


Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Culinary and/or catering/hospitality qualifications such as a degree or diploma (essential); Intermediate HACCP qualification or equivalent (desirable); Management/Leadership qualification an advantage.


Work Experience:

  • Extensive experience in managing a large-scale food manufacturing department;
  • Qualified Chef with Global Food experience preferable;
  • Extensive knowledge of restaurant production techniques and market trends;
  • Experience in managing teams within the food industry;
  • Experience in managing budgets, financial, and performance targets.


Skills & Knowledge:

  • Lean Management Skills;
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Intermediate IT skills;
  • Financial Budgetary skills and demonstrable experience.
