Our client SaxaVord Spaceport, the UK’s most northerly spaceport, offering direct routes to key low-earth orbits are currently seeking a passionate and dynamic Spaceport Operations Engineer to join their team in Unst, Shetland.


In this exhilarating role, you will work closely with the Spaceport Operations Manager to ensure the smooth and safe management of SaxaVord Spaceport during launch days and beyond.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and schedule hazardous operations effectively.
  • Provide support to launch operators throughout test and launch campaigns.
  • Assist in the coordination of ongoing construction projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with the requirements set by the rocket launch provider.
  • Develop and upkeep standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various operational tasks and emergency protocols.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in mechanical, aerospace, or systems engineering.
  • Familiarity with space launch systems, propulsion technology, and ground support equipment is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of large-scale design/build projects is beneficial but not essential.
  • Working understanding of UK safety regulations and best practices.
  • Familiarity with Pressure Systems Safety Regulations is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible and fast-paced environment, among other standard attributes.
