London, United Kingdom CABOT LEARNING FEDERATION Full time

Deputy CEO

We are looking for a dynamic leader to join us as our Deputy CEO to work alongside the CEO and COO to develop a compelling educational vision for our organisation and share responsibility for the overall performance of our trust.

The Cabot Learning Federation (CLF) is a diverse West Country multi-academy trust which is home to 35 schools operating in five clusters in Bristol, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Somerset.

The CLF is unique due to its tight geographical concentration, the diversity of the communities it serves, and the variety of educational provisions it offers. We are one of the largest and most respected trusts in the South West and hold national as well as regional recognition due to the breadth and influence of strong practice in our trust.

Our collaborative culture, driven by a strong moral purpose, is key to our success. We believe strong collaboration can drive school improvement and embed excellence in our academies. Our team is united with the common goal of delivering outstanding educational experiences and promoting the life chances of the young people in our academies now and in the future.

Following a recent period of growth, we are proud to serve circa 18,000 pupils who all attend one of our 10 secondary academies, 17 primary academies, an all-through provision, a studio school, a discrete post-16 provision, two special schools and three alternative provisions spanning the age ranges.

Who are we looking for:

As a member of the Executive Team, the successful candidate will help to define and lead the trust’s strategic direction, and secure high performance in all aspects of CLF life.

Reporting to the CEO, the Deputy CEO is accountable for the quality of educational provision across all phases and all types of educational setting, while setting the educational philosophy, strategy and the direction of the trust, securing its mission and upholding the HEART values.

The Deputy CEO will be charged with leading the Education Executive Team to focus on raising and sustaining standards and on securing high-performing education provision.

Whilst the Deputy CEO ultimately holds responsibility for all academies and provisions, this is led through others with direct line management of the Education Directors, who oversee the line management of Executive Principals, Senior Principals and Principals.

Other key responsibilities will include linking with governance leaders to ensure high quality trust and academy governance, creating and developing networks to support the growth of leadership expertise, and working beyond the trust to enhance the sector and grow the reputation of the CLF.

At all times, the Deputy CEO is expected to be responsive and responsible, provide support in times of challenge, and model exemplary professional behaviours in line with trust values.

About the Cabot Learning Federation

CLF is an equal opportunity employer. The trust is proud to serve a diverse student population and their communities. We actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.

We are proud to be part of diverse communities in the region and celebrate the richness of cultures, faiths and backgrounds of our students. We aim to develop a curriculum that is responsive to our pupils’ needs and reflects their diverse interests and backgrounds.

The Cabot Learning Federation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This role has significant responsibility for ensuring safeguarding practice within academies. While this role does not routinely work directly with students, you will be based on site and have regular access to students and are therefore in regulated activity.

The successful applicant will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive pre-employment checking process including references from current and previous employers, health, right to work in the UK and a child disqualification check. The checks will also include an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list.

Please submit your application form via the CLF recruitment portal. CVs will not be accepted and any submitted will not be considered alongside your application.

Please note updates regarding an application, which could include an invite to interview, will be sent to the email address used when registering an account. Copies of all correspondence will also appear under the ‘messages’ section; in the event that emails are being directed to a ‘junk’ or ‘trash’ folder, please make regular checks on the status of an application.
