Days: Full time

Location: Central England – 3 days per week on-site


Role Overview:

A strategic and operational leader is sought to enhance and deliver services supporting the applicant and student journey. As a key member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Group, the Chief Academic Services Officer will significantly impact student experience and long-term educational strategies.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and optimise student-focused services from application to graduation.
  • Provide strategic leadership to academic services, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Set and monitor performance indicators related to admissions, retention, and student satisfaction.
  • Drive service improvement through automation and digital solutions.
  • Oversee student wellbeing, the Respect Policy, and related activities.
  • Manage the student lifecycle, including surveys, regulations, and quality assurance.
  • Implement the Access and Participation Plan.
  • Engage with the Students’ Union on services and student concerns.
  • Lead major projects and foster partnerships across the University.
  • Act as a senior expert on academic services and higher education regulations.
  • Handle high-level complaints and act as the lead institutional contact for the OIA.
  • Manage budgets and resource allocation efficiently.


Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in academic service delivery and strategic leadership.
  • Strong understanding of higher education regulations and student wellbeing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and manage complex projects.
