Job Title: Product Development EngineerLocation: GlascoedSalary: £43,649 (dependent on skills and experience)What You’ll Be DoingAssisting product design and system engineering activities for new and legacy productsThe configuration and maintenance of engineering Bills of Materials (BOM) for productsFacilitating product design and evaluation/ down selection e.g. Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)Process design, definition and critical evaluation e.g. Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Process Control Plans (PCP)The management of suppliers, both internal and external, to ensure that development activities are completed to time and scheduleLifecycle management (contributing towards design reviews) from concept to disposalContribution to the Risk Management processWorking as part of an integrated project team, including regular engagement with project management, procurement (supply chain) and operationsEssentialYour skills and experiences:Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent qualification or experience within mechanical engineeringDemonstrable mechanical engineering experienceAbility to read and understand engineering drawings and modelsCapability/experience of producing high-quality technical reportsDesirableA working knowledge of systems engineering and engineering designWorking knowledge of risk managementKnowledge of munitions design and manufactureFamiliarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) processBenefitsAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.The Medium Calibre TeamAs a Product Development Engineer, you will have responsibility for the coordination of activities undertaken by specialist engineers as well as carrying out the project-specific activities defined by project plans/ tasks to develop defence products.This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to work with the design of defence products, as well as the chance to witness the product trials. You will have a really broad scope of work with good variation of day-to-day activities and involvement across the whole product lifecycle.
