Atomic is delighted to be partnering with an ambitious firm near Harrow, looking to recruit a Payroll Supervisor to join their team. With roots going back 60 years, the firm specialises in providing a range of services to small and medium sized businesses

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end payroll processes for over 170 clients.
  • Statutory Deductions: Calculating and processing income tax, National Insurance contributions, and pension contributions.
  • Payroll Inputs: Reviewing and validating inputs such as salaries, benefits, allowances, and deductions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all HMRC, RTI, and other statutory reporting deadlines are met.
  • Documentation: Preparing and distributing employee payslips, P45s, and other statutory payroll documents in a timely manner.
  • Pension Administration: Overseeing employee pension schemes, including enrolment, contributions, and liaison with pension providers.
  • Year-End Processes: Coordinating year-end payroll tasks, including producing annual P60s and P11D forms.
  • Annual Pay Review: Implementing detailed changes to various pay elements, such as basic, overtime, unsocial hours, and holiday pay.
  • CIS Submissions: Preparing Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) submissions.
  • Client Support: Handling payroll-related inquiries from clients.
  • HMRC Liaison: Acting as the primary contact with HMRC on all PAYE and related matters.
  • Reconciliations: Conducting periodic payroll reconciliations and resolving discrepancies or errors.
  • Legislation and Compliance: Staying updated with UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 10+ years as a Payroll Supervisor or in a similar role, with a focus on UK payroll.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of UK payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. A continuous learning mindset to stay updated with changes in UK payroll regulations and best practices.
  • Payroll Processes: Familiarity with monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll processes.
  • Statutory Deductions: Strong understanding of income tax, National Insurance contributions, and pension contributions.
  • Pension Administration: Experience with pension scheme administration and compliance requirements. Knowledge of providers such as Creative Pensions, Nest Pensions, Royal London, and Smart Pension is preferable.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent accuracy in processing complex payroll scenarios.
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in using payroll software or systems for end-to-end payroll processing. Knowledge of Moneysoft payroll software and Xero payroll is desirable.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to handle complex payroll calculations and reconciliations.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage multiple payroll cycles and deadlines.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively address employee payroll-related queries.
  • Data Protection: Understanding of data protection regulations and confidentiality requirements in handling employee information.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
