Senior Quantity SurveyorLocation: BirminghamSalary: £50,000 to £72,000 + car & packageA leading main contractor is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a landmark infrastructure project in central Birmingham. This is one of the largest civil engineering schemes in Europe, offering the opportunity to contribute to a project of national significance while advancing your career with a business known for strong progression pathways.Role OverviewThe Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee commercial delivery across a high-value package of works, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and financial performance. The position combines hybrid working with site presence in central Birmingham, alongside a competitive salary and benefits package.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee project budgets, ensuring costs remain within approved limitsPrepare and present accurate financial reports, forecasts, and budget updatesAdminister contracts and ensure compliance with terms and conditionsReview and process variations and change ordersLead procurement activity, including preparation of tender documents and evaluation of bidsUndertake interim valuations and prepare applications for paymentIdentify, assess, and mitigate project risksProvide commercial and contractual support to the project teamLiaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, delivering clear progress reportsDrive value engineering initiativesMentor and support junior members of the commercial teamEssential RequirementsDemonstrable experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor in heavy civil engineering, infrastructure, or utilitiesStrong track record in managing high-value contracts within complex project environmentsSound understanding of commercial processes, contract law, and risk managementExcellent communication and negotiation skillsAbility to commute to central Birmingham three days per weekDesirableExperience leading commercial teams on major projectsProfessional membership or working towards chartership (RICS, ICES, or equivalent)Benefits and Career DevelopmentSalary range £50,000-£72,000 dependent on experienceCar or car allowance25-26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with option to purchase an additional 5 daysContributory pension schemePrivate healthcareAnnual pay reviewsProfessional fees paidHybrid working model supporting work-life balanceClear progression opportunities on a nationally significant programme of worksThis is a commercially focused role on one of the UK's most complex infrastructure schemes, with strong long-term career prospects and immediate impact.
