Power Platform Engineer

Location: Swindon, London or Northampton

Salary: Circa £45,000

As a Power Platform E1 Engineer, you'll be part of a skilled team overseeing the configuration, security, and governance of the Power Platform.

You’ll also be evaluating exciting new functionality being released to enhance our ability to drive the societies adoption of automation using the Power Platform and Copilot Studio.

The societies automation toolbox in the O365 space includes Power Apps, Automate, BI and Copilot Studio.

We’re on an exciting journey within the society to make better use of modern automation platforms and AI tools, and as a platform administration team we’re here to make sure the tools available are fit for purpose, configured correctly, and are consumable in a safe and secure way.

In essence, you're not just administering the platform; you're enabling others to build the future, one Power Platform project or Copilot Agent at a time.

Welcome to the team, where your skill, words and experience will shape our collective journey.

The IT Infrastructure & Service Delivery function within Nationwide is akin to the backbone of the society's technological and operational transformation. It is an active and integral part of the Chief Operating Office, responsible for delivering Nationwide's strategy and blueprint through its Strategic Investment Portfolio. This includes enhancing system resilience, introducing new technology, and improving customer experience.

Moreover, IT Infrastructure & Service Delivery is charged with defining the data strategy for Nationwide and future-proofing the organization with a comprehensive Tech Strategy. This involves simplifying the IT application estate and enhancing the digital experience for customers.

The function also provides infrastructure, networking, and end-user products and services, along with the support capabilities that underpin them. This includes hosting infrastructure, networking services, colleague collaboration tools, and provisioning of colleague devices.

In essence, IT Infrastructure & Service Delivery is responsible for optimising and automating products and services, ensuring that Nationwide remains at the forefront of technological innovation and service delivery. It plays a pivotal role in maintaining Nationwide's brand and reputation, both internally and externally, by using member insight and innovative strategies to enhance engagement and attract new members while deepening relationships with existing ones.

The IT Infrastructure & Service Delivery function is supported by a talented team of colleagues, supplemented by specialist third-party teams, all working towards the purpose of making banking fairer, more rewarding, and beneficial for society.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, London or Northampton office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

Aiding in the adoption of new functionality introduced within the Power Platform, specifically around Managed Environments.

Be able to advocate an “automation first” mindset and be able to articulate what’s within “the art of the possible” when it comes to using the Power Platform.

You’ll work closely with your fellow End User Services colleagues, lots of teams within IT Infrastructure and Service Delivery and those who look after our internal processes.

In fact, one of your big challenges in the first six months will be to help automate repetitive administration tasks on the platform to increase the pace at which adoption can take place.

About you

As a minimum you'll have:

  • Proficiency in administering Power Platform tools, including Power Apps, Automate, BI, and Copilot Studio, with an understanding of their configuration options.
  • Experience in managing Power Platform policies such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Environment, and Enterprise policies.
  • The ability to assess, test, and demonstrate new administrative functionalities in the Power Platform.
  • Knowledge of the capabilities of Copilot Studio and Copilot Agents.
  • Familiarity with key components of M365 and Azure, such as Intune, Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, and EntraID.
  • Understanding of supporting functionalities in Azure, including Service Principals, Azure Key Vault, and Azure API Manager.

Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together. You can strengthen your application by showing the behaviours that resonate with you, and how you might have already demonstrated these.

  • Say it straight - This is about being honest and direct with good intent and saying what needs to be said in the room. It’s also about being clear, precise, and using language that we and, importantly, our customers and members can understand.
  • Push for better - This is about aiming high and constantly looking for better in how we work together and serve our customers and members.
  • Get it done - This is about prioritising what will have the greatest impact, being decisive and taking accountability for delivering on the end-to-end outcome.

We know applying for jobs can sometimes feel like you’re sending an application into a black hole. We review each application individually. So, it’s a good idea to call out your most relevant experience on your application to give yourself the best chance.

What makes us different

Nationwide is the world’s largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK’s population. We’ve got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we’re not a bank.

As a building society, we’re owned by our members – that’s our customers who have their current account, mortgage or savings with us. It means we can do things differently to deliver our Purpose – Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.

When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You’ll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You’ll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don’t have to bank with a bank. They can choose a modern mutual instead.
