Purpose of PositionIn this position you will be responsible for ensuring our vehicles that are being used are safe and legally compliant. You will also be upskilling depot staff in the safe use of equipment and ensuring that they are aware of the company defect and booking procedures.Key Task & ResponsibilitiesLooking at supplier performance and monitoring associated services and cost as well as auditing the quality of workCarrying out weight checks fleet checks and site inspectionsIdentifying key areas and causes of vehicle damage and work with the Depot Management Team to devise strategies to reduce damage sustainedEnsuring all suppliers of vehicle related goods and services meet company requirements in terms of cost and legal compliance (including health and safety considerations)Qualifications : What were looking for;As the successful candidate you will have extensive vehicle mechanical knowledge and demonstrable experience within the transport sectorWe would also expect;Ability to carry out internal auditsStrong financial awarenessStrong decision making and problem solving skillsThe ability to engage and build strong working relationships with employees and suppliersExcellent communication skills both written and verbalA great team player who demonstrates the core DPD DNA values of Passion Respect Honesty Flexibility Caring and AccountabilityJob SpecificsTravel around the region will be an essential part of this role as well as some overnight staysTherefore you must hold a Full UK Driving Licence with Category B/LGV and preferably Category C1You will have a comprehensive induction to DPD this will include both a corporate induction followed by a thorough induction of our Hubs and wider Network OperationAdditional Information : About our benefits:We recognise that our people are at the heart of our business without them we wouldnt be able to deliver our award-winning service to millions of customers across the country each day.
