Ormiston Families is one of the leading charities working with children, young people, and families in the East of England. We take early and preventative action to support families to be safe, healthy, and resilient.

Responsibilities of a Senior Practitioner:

  • To provide clinical supervision and oversee the work of a specified number of practitioners in the team.

  • To provide clinical guidance to the wider team.

  • To deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health or emotional well being problems to maintain your practice.

  • To utilise specialist knowledge to make decisions about a child or young person’s mental health needs and how these would most appropriately be met.

  • To provide advice, guidance and signposting for parents, caregivers or professionals who are waiting for CYP waiting on interventions. To assess clinical risk and safety plan, and to prioritise accordingly.

  • To escalate cases where the level of need becomes outside of service delivery of Ormiston Families within the YOUnited Partnership, and with fellow senior practitioners and team managers.

  • To demonstrate an active commitment to safeguarding CYP and vulnerable adults.

  • support a strong culture of risk management across all delivery, undertaking safeguarding consultations with support from managers in accordance with Ormiston Families policies and procedures.

Skills and experience of a Senior Practitioner:

  • Qualification as a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner, Education Mental Health Practitioner or hold a registered qualification in a core profession e.g RMN, RN (child),or social work.

  • Experience of providing clinical supervision

  • A minimum two years experience of delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and young people.

  • Experience of working in children’s mental health or related services.

  • Experience of using safeguarding processes to protect the needs of CYP.

  • Experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.
