Overview

Our client, the owner of a beautiful private estate nestled in the picturesque countryside on the Dorset/Wiltshire border, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Domestic Couple to join their household team.

The role requires a Housekeeper and a Maintenance/Handyperson who will work together to maintain the estate's high standards. The successful couple will be provided with a three-bedroom cottage on the estate and a car for their use.

Job duties

Responsibilities of the Housekeeper include:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the estate's interiors, including daily cleaning, laundry, and ironing
  • Manage household supplies and ensure that all areas of the estate are kept in pristine condition
  • Assist with meal preparation and serving when required
  • Care for fine fabrics, antiques, and other delicate items with attention to detail
  • Coordinate with other household staff to ensure smooth operation of the estate

Responsibilities of the Maintenance/Handyperson include:

  • Perform general maintenance tasks across the estate, including minor repairs, painting, plumbing, and electrical work
  • Manage the upkeep of the estate grounds, including gardening, landscaping, and general outdoor care
  • Ensure the security of the estate, including regular checks and maintenance of security systems
  • Oversee the maintenance and care of estate vehicles and machinery
  • Assist with any other tasks as required by the estate owners
Candidates must be/have:
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Domestic Couple within a Private Household/Estate
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a wider team, maintaining open communication and collaboration
  • A proactive approach to tasks with a can-do attitude
  • Ideally, both candidates have valid driving licences
  • Flexibility to accommodate the needs of the estate
Accommodation

A three-bedroom cottage provided on the estate.

A car will be provided for work-related duties.

Hours

Full-time.

Rotation: One week: Monday to Friday, followed by Wednesday to Sunday the next week, with alternating weekends off.

Housekeeper Hours: 08:30 - 16:30

Maintenance Person Hours: 08:00 - 16:30

Overtime and time off in lieu.

Location

Near Shaftesbury, on the Dorset/Wiltshire border.

Salary

Highly competitive and depending on experience.
