Balfour Beatty are looking to appoint a Senior HSE Advisor to work on the closing off of a 1 mile stretch of the HS2 tunnel works in Long Itchington Wood, Southam. This is an initial 3 month contract but may be extended further if required.
The successful Senior HSE Advisor will ideally have a strong understanding and experience in Tunnelling, specifically SCL / Sprayed Concrete Lining / Secondary Concrete Lining phases. The HSE Advisor will have relevant NEBOSH qualifications and a valid TEEPS card (or the ability to obtain before starting).
Responsibilities
- Support and deputise for the Sublot H&S Manager when needed.
- Be able to support BBV and HS2 behavioural and cultural change programmes through alignment with the Golden Behaviours and Golden Rules.
- Able to work independently and efficiently on time critical / time sensitive workstreams.
- Provide advice and support on relevant health and safety related issues to colleagues on site.
- Advise on project compliance with the BBV health and safety management system and relevant UK legislation such as CDM, and other Construction related legislative requirements.
- Complete documented site inspections and joint inspections with suppliers, BBV and Subcontractor teams.
- Support project and construction colleagues in effective delivery of safety briefings / health and safety communications.
- When needed, provide support for the development of site related health and safety related communications.
- Work in lockstep and alignment with the BBV Core health and safety teams.
- Review of safe systems of work such as Risk Assessments and Method Statements where a formal health and safety review is required.
- Provide support and advice to accident and incident investigations and ensure that the HS2 reporting database is updated as needed.
- Undertake health and safety evaluations of supplier bids alongside procurement team colleagues.
- Work closely with colleagues in other Sublot support functions.
- Provide advice and support to Sublot Facilities colleagues on health and safety issues connected to Facilities Management and building related issues including fire and security.
- Work closely with the Sublot H&S Admin team to provide the necessary professional advice and support when needed.
Key Skills / Experience
- Previous experience in Construction Project/Facilities Health & Safety
- Previous experience in HSE role on Tunnelling projects and knowledge/experience in Sprayed Concrete Lining / Secondary Concrete Lining / SCL / Cross Passages would be beneficial
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (Construction activities – minimum)
- NEBOSH General Certificate (Facilities activities – minimum)
- Valid TEEPS card - or ability to obtain one
