Financial Controller Location: Central Bedfordshire Salary: Paying up to £70,000 plus benefits Permanent Apointe are partnering exclusively with a forward-thinking organisation that is strengthening its finance function and investing heavily in people, processes and systems. As part of this evolution, they are looking to hire a Financial Controller a rare opportunity for a newly qualified accountant ready to step into a leadership role and take ownership of the management accounting and reporting function.Reporting into the UK Head of Finance, you’ll lead a team of three and play a central role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, improving processes, and maintaining a strong control environment across the business.What you’ll be doing:Leading, developing and supporting a team of three within the management accounting function.Owning the delivery of accurate and timely weekly, monthly and year-end reporting.Maintaining, improving and controlling the quality of management accounts.Preparing subsidiary accounts for external reporting and ensuring compliance with internal policies, IFRS and relevant tax legislation.Managing ongoing balance sheet integrity, reviews and reconciliations.Driving continuous improvement across financial processes and systems, identifying efficiencies and supporting change initiatives.Providing ad-hoc business partnering support to operations and group stakeholders.Offering guidance and support to non-UK finance teams.Supporting the annual budgeting cycle, forecasting and wider planning activities.What our client is looking for:Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA) ideally newly qualified or in your first few years post-qualification.Strong technical accounting foundation — practice-trained candidates highly encouraged.Clear communicator with strong presentation and relationship-building skills.Confident leading others, or ready to take your first formal step into team management.Advanced Excel skills and a keen eye for accuracy and detail.Proactive mindset with the ability to influence and drive process improvements.This role is perfect for someone who wants to step into true ownership leading a team, shaping processes, and ensuring the numbers are robust and reliable.
