Summary:As part of a dedicated team the O&M technician will work on a day shift basis and be responsible for safely and successfully operating and monitoring the electrical mechanical instrument and process equipment at a brand-new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) located within the site of an internationally recognised customerThe O&M technician will be expected to monitor and control the plant and implement any necessary operational changes. The Operator would also prepare plant for Planned Maintenance tasks as required. The Water Treatment Plant Operator will also be expected to maintain analytical data into a computer-based system to record plant performance.In addition the O&M technician is expected to be able to carry out first line preventative maintenance activities on the equipment with the support of a Computerised Maintenance Management System. This can include tasks such as cleaning of process instruments on a regular basis changing over duty pumps and equipment as necessary and ensuring the process assets are in as good condition as possible.All necessary training will be provided. Most work will be dayshift Monday Friday but it is expected that the operator will work outside these hours if required. As part of this role the applicant will also provide on call plant cover responding to any alarms and attending site if necessary out of hoursDuties and Responsibilities:Work within the client and Company Quality Health & Safety & Environment (QHSE) systemsVisible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and internally.Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and internally.Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel Company employees and sub-contractor staff.Innovate in the workplace to deliver Continuous improvement and exploit opportunities.Identity faults identify solutions & carry out basic repairs.Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site.Carry out laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical TeamUtilising plant information identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems and evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition.Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practicesTo work unsupervised with a proactive attitudeDevelop good team working behaviours with the client and other Company staffUndergo training as required and identify training needsLead by exampleTake on additional responsibilities as the company may reasonably require.Required Skills/Qualifications:Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance on process equipmentA working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plantComputer literateAbility to work on own or as part of a teamAbility to work under pressureProactive attitude Effective task managementNijhuis will welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate willingness to develop into the role as well as experienced applicantsRequired Skills/Qualifications (Desirable): Experience of working directly with sub-contractors To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience an ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant Operational and maintenance knowledge of wastewater treatment plant Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment plants Training in Environmental Health and Safety Time served Technician/Fitter/Electrician/MechanicWorking for us means: The salary is 37000 per year depending on your professional experience.Holidays 25 plus Bank HolidaysProbationary Period 6 months.Pension Can join immediately or auto enrolled after 3 months - Employee 5% and Employer 5% via salary sacrifice.Eligible to join Private Healthcare after successfully completing probation.Enrolled in Group Income Protection and Death in Service (4 x basic salary) upon commencement of employment.Notice 1 week during probation increasing to 1 month thereafter.Nijhuis Saur Industries UK & Ireland are committed to maintaining Environmental & Social Impact goals:To reach Net Zero emissions across our value chain by 2040.To continuously meet high standards of social and environmental performance transparency accountability maintaining B-Corp Certification.To be a socially responsible company creating a positive impact to all stakeholders including workers communities customers and our planet.Nijhuis Saur Industries UK & Ireland are an equal opportunity employer; we are committed to providing equal opportunities in all aspects of employment in line with the Equality Act 2010.Are you a recruiterPlease do not call or email us unless we have contacted you first.
