A rapidly growing B2B SAAS business operating within the tech for good space.


Role:

The Head of Architecture will be responsible for setting and guiding the technical vision and strategy. This individual will oversee the development and deployment of scalable, high-performance solutions across various products and platforms.


The role involves shaping architectural practices, ensuring these align with the company's broader objectives, and directing the technical path of the organisation. A successful candidate will have strong leadership and management capabilities, with a focus on optimising processes, integrating systems, and leading a team of architects and engineers within a dynamic, growing business environment.


The business essentially need this person to create a map for their Software Engineering teams to refer to. (Think C4 Model) Therefore you must have experience of doing this in a previous role to be a suitable fit.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the architectural vision, ensuring scalability and performance
  • Align technical goals with business objectives to support growth.
  • Lead and mentor a team of architects, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Develop career growth plans to enhance team skills
  • Establish architecture processes and standards for quality and consistency
  • Promote modern development practices and tools for scalable solutions
  • Work with Product Management, Engineering, and others to integrate architectural solutions effectively.
  • Encourage communication and alignment on technical strategies
  • Lead design reviews, ensuring compliance with technical standards and business needs
  • Address technical debt to maintain platform scalability and sustainability
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies, fostering continuous improvement and innovation
  • Manage risks by ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards


Key Skills:

  • Proven experience leading architecture teams and managing change
  • Strong mentoring and people management skills
  • Deep understanding of scalable, distributed systems in SaaS
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture, microservices, and modern software practices
  • Expertise in refining architecture processes and ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Experience in governance and best practice implementation
  • Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders and drive cross-team collaboration
  • Strong analytical skills and experience balancing short- and long-term goals


Technical Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of SaaS technologies, cloud computing, and architecture
  • Hands-on experience with relevant software development frameworks


Industry Experience:

  • Experience in a fast-growing B2B SaaS environment
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards
