It’s Amici’s Innovation team that works diligently to ensure that the MyAmici platform and online purchasing experience is easy and seamless, so that our customers can focus on making life changing discoveries.
About the role.
We are embarking on a new phase of development to create the next generation of our MyAmici product as part of a multi-year plan of growth for the business and are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join us on that journey.
As part of the Innovation team, you will have the opportunity to lay the foundations of the new data platform underpinning our services, set the standard for processes and practices, and work with a modern technology stack as part of a growing team.
Ideally, you are an experienced Data Engineer looking to be part of a journey to redefine how data is processed and managed in the business, enjoy working directly with stakeholders in an Agile environment, and love to mentor & develop colleagues as they build their careers.
What will you be doing?
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Data Engineering, helping to set the standards for data engineering and analytics best-practice for the business.
- Lay the foundations of the new data platform as a hands-on practitioner, building on the rich datasets we have in the business for both automation and analytics.
- Design and development of data processing pipelines to support ingestion, enrichment and quality control of client and partner data.
- Design and development of an Amici data warehouse to power reporting and analytics.
- Coach, mentor and up-skill team members on the hands-on data engineering to build their technical skills and knowledge of the platform.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements; automating manual processes and optimising data delivery.
- Work with technical stakeholders to assist with data engineering-related technical issues and support their data needs.
- Work with business stakeholders, running workshops and discovery sessions to understand requirements and provide status updates.
What are we looking for?
- Strong, proven experience working in a consultative manner with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven hands-on experience working with modern data engineering technologies, techniques and architectures to implement and maintain modern, robust and performant data pipelines.
- Proven hands-on experience delivering and maintaining enterprise-grade data pipelines utilising technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Pentaho Data Integrator, Apache Hop, etc.
- Demonstrable understanding of modern ETL/ELT practices, frameworks, tooling and execution environments.
- Demonstrable understanding of data delivery approaches like batch, micro-batch, messaging, streaming, etc.
- Hands-on software engineering skills and best practices across design, coding, testing, source control, deployment, CI/CD, documentation, etc.
- Hands-on experience with a variety of databases, such as SQL Server and MongoDB, ideally hosted in a cloud environment.
What is in it for you?
We offer an intrapreneurial environment where people are supported to do their best work, and everyone has the opportunity to make a difference. As a company, we never stop investing in our culture. We appreciate empowering, motivating and developing employees to offer a challenging and rewarding experience at Amici.
