This company is at the forefront of electrical safety equipment and distribute on a global scale, during this exciting time of expansion, the position of Head of Mechanical Engineering has become available.


Role Summary

The Head of the Mechanical Engineering Team will lead and develop the Mechanical Engineering team, as well as the product change control team, with overall responsibility for mechanical design, product updates, and development activities associated with developing and manufacturing electronic/electrical test equipment.

The Head of the Mechanical Engineering Team will lead the new 3DX/PLM

implementation and will also ensure that remote teams are fully aligned with the UK teams processes and tools, as well as adhere to the same quality standards.


Essential Skills

• The successful candidate shall be degree qualified, or HND/HNC, in Mechanical and/or Production engineering

• Knowledge of implementing the Document management and change management system, ideally 3DX/PLM.

• At least 10 years of experience in product design and development

• Ability to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role

• Results focused, adopting a business-led approach to achieve goals and contributing to financial growth. Consistently delivers quality results in a timely and cost-efficient manner

• Collaboration and cooperation with others across the organisation, recognising the need to work as ‘one’ united team with common goals.


Desirable

• A working knowledge of BSEN 61010 or similar safety standards

• An understanding of relevant aspects of electrical safety (clearance and creepage distances, material groups [CTI / PLC rating] and flammability ratings), and design for EMC compliance

• Tooling/jig and fixture design experience

• Familiarity with FEA, injection moulding simulation, Stress Analysis and Flow

Analysis tools and techniques

• Familiar with graphics design using CorelDraw

• Familiarity with PCB design tools (preferably Cadence Allegro) for data transfer between mechanical and PCB CAD systems

• Membership of a professional engineering institute
