Design Coordinator

Who We Are:STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTCs Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT) helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs schools and other key destinations throughout the city.As part of this project we are currently looking for aDesign Coordinatorto join our team.What You Will Do:Integrate into the Construction Team to coordinate civil structural and architectural works design matters with the Engineering Consultant and the Subcontractors.Receive check and seek Project information from the Engineering Consultant the construction team other partners and the Client to have a good design acknowledgement from the Project and to share with the other people involved into the Project.Prepare/review narratives RFIs and shop drawings as required.Support the preparation of project deliverables and tracking of submittals.Coordinate technical and administrative activities and liaise among different stakeholders.Monitor and track designers performance in accordance with schedule and track design changes.Prepare and review the technical submittals ensuring that they are issued in accordance with the specified design requirements and quality standards.Review the drawings submissions for quality and scope compliance identifying design or interdisciplinary issues ensuring that constructability and constructions means and methods are coordinated with the Construction Team.Identify potential problems that may occur during the construction process which were not identified in the design and coordinate with the Designer and the Construction team to find a solution.Manage and track design documentation submittals and alert the team member of risks related to potential delays.Prepare issue and monitor RFIs.Facilitate effective communication between the design team and construction team.Other duties related to design management.Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity welcome different perspectives and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.Experience You Will Bring:A degree / diploma in Civil Engineering or Architecture from a recognized institutionSimilar / relevant work experience would be considered an asset.A moderate working knowledge of electrical and mechanical drawings/schematics is considered an asset.Technical Skills: CAD (Autodesk AutoCAD) BIM software (Autodesk Navisworks) STACK Bluebeam MS Office (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint and MS Project)Reasonable of knowledge of OBC and other municipal standards and regulations would be considered an asset.Knowledge of design and construction of civil structural and architectural works and experience liaising with stakeholders.Previous working experience in Rail Projects or Transit is considered an asset.A strong eye for design details and the ability to coordinate civil and utilities design and assist in making design-driven decisions.Good communication and documentation skills.Able to lead discussions with the partners clients and suppliers.Demonstrated strong team work ethics and decision-making skills.Self-starter able to perform in a fast-paced environment takes ownership of resolving RFIs and addressing field-raised concerns with timely effective solutionsDiversity & Inclusion champion.Why Join UsCompetitive pay comprehensive health and dental benefits and RRSP matching plans.The opportunity to work on one of the most exciting rail projects in Toronto.A wide array of learning and development opportunities.A work environment focused on health and safety.STC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of citizenship race place of origin ethnic origin color ancestry disability age creed sex/pregnancy family status marital status sexual orientation gender identity gender expression and record of offences.When we collect your personal information as part of a job application or offer of employment we do so in accordance with industry standards and best practices and in compliance with applicable privacy laws.We are committed to adhering to the objectives and requirements outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and to meeting the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities in a timely manner through the implementation of the requirements of the AODA and its applicable regulations.
