Sainsburys Tech - .NET Engineer

Why join us

As a .Net Engineer, you'll apply architectural and engineering principles to define and deliver technology that provides better customer experiences and business efficiency, and reduces business costs. We'd also like you to be yourself - analytical, curious and unafraid to learn new skills or challenge the status quo. You'll always look to improve the way things are done in your team, too.

What you'll do

You will be responsible for owning the design and development of highly performant and user-friendly web frontends using technologies such as React.js / NextJS, with TypeScript. You will contribute to our product technical roadmap and implement cloud and container technologies such as Kubernetes on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Leading the design and support of services and internal frameworks that enhance Sainsbury's capabilities will be part of your role.

Throughout the whole product lifecycle, including decommissioning, you will demonstrate engineering expertise, knowledge of engineering and architectural principles, and proven experience in software design and implementation, security, cloud, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD. Your drive for continuous improvement, advocacy of agile/lean delivery methodologies, and passion for delivering solutions to customers will shine through in your work.

You will display empathy and understanding in supporting your colleagues in the team to deliver, while also keeping yourself up-to-date with emerging technologies and maintaining a strong focus on work-life balance.

You'll also help implement cloud technologies such as AWS and Google Cloud Platform, drive the product technical roadmap design and support services and internal frameworks that enhance Sainsbury's Group capabilities. Throughout, you'll share your technical knowledge and ideas with the wider team.

Who you are

With a strong background in programming languages like C# .NET and JavaScript, you possess a deep understanding of engineering and architectural principles, enabling you to contribute to the product technical roadmap and implement cutting-edge cloud and container technologies.

Your passion for continuous improvement, agile/lean delivery methodologies, and delivering solutions to customers drives you to constantly enhance your knowledge and explore emerging technologies. Your collaborative nature and commitment to the DevSecOps principles enable you to support and empower your colleagues in delivering exceptional results.

We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer, so you'll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there's always the chance to try something new - whether that's as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we'll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them:

Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to get 10% off at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat after 4 weeks. This increases to 15% off at Sainsbury's every Friday and Saturday and 15% off at Argos every pay day. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 20% of salary, depending on how we perform.
