Lead Cyber Security Engineer

Manchester hybrid working model (2 days a week onsite and 3 days remote)

The Lead Cyber Security Engineer role forms part of the Security Wider Leadership Team (WLT) and will lead our approach to Security engineering at Smart DCC. The Lead Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for managing the Security engineering team and will also lead on toolsets, processes and capabilities required to effectively deliver a world class security operations Centre.


What will you be doing?

Establishing relationships with key stakeholders in Risk, Technology and Operations, as well as establishing yourself as a SME for Cyber Security within the organisation as well as working very closely and building strong relationships with our Service Providers

Run advanced and predictive analyses and perform assessments based on the Mitre ATT&CK framework

Works independently and provides guidance and training to others on analysing data trends for use in security use cases to guide the development of the Security toolset

Create artificial intelligence algorithms that identify potential patterns or indicators of compromise in security logs, to be used in the defence of the environment

Manage and lead the engineering team to ensure the delivery of the required objectives, support the learning of junior colleagues within wider Security Operations.

Data and Analytics Strategy, working independently and providing guidance and training to others on analysing data trends for use in security use cases to guide the development of the Security toolset.

Security Improvement through AI, create artificial intelligence algorithms that identify potential patterns or indicators of compromise in security logs, to be used in the defence of the environment.

Be the subject matter expert on all Elastic search tooling


What are we looking for?

Extensive experience as a Lead Cyber Security Engineer or similar role including managing teams

Have expert knowledge of both AWS an Azure security controls and be able to design and implement all security controls

In-depth understanding of the cyber threat landscape and advances adversary tactics

The role requires an expert knowledge and experience of Linux, Windows, Azure, AWS, Elastic Search, Vulnerability management and Mitre Att&ck.

Excellent experience with NW configuration, Routing, Transit Gateways, Private endpoints and log collection specifically Cloud watch, Cloudtrail and S3 buckets
