About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Solicitor to join a small, dynamic legal team within a Local Authority . This is a locum position offered on a full-time, remote basis, providing an excellent chance to be involved in a broad range of commercial and construction-related legal work.


Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing timely and effective legal advice on contracts and procurement matters to the Local Authority and its partner District Councils.
  • Handling a diverse range of commercial work, with a particular focus on construction projects, frameworks agreements, collaborative procurements, and subsidy advice.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of contracts, with a strong emphasis on NEC and JCT industry standard forms.
  • Working closely with client departments to ensure legal compliance and support in complex commercial transactions.


Ideal Candidate Profile:

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced legal professional with:

  • A minimum of 3 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in contracts and procurement, ideally within a local government setting.
  • Strong experience in construction law, particularly with NEC and JCT contracts.
  • The ability to work independently and as an integral part of a small team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the capability to deliver clear and practical legal advice to public sector clients.
