MD Communications also recently won an award for its diversity work in the legal sector at the Women and Diversity in Law awards.


What we do

We offer a range of related services designed to deliver the outcomes clients need and meet the objectives we agree. These include PR and thought leadership, crisis communications, client listening, training, digital and social media, and employer brand.


We also help clients ensure their legal directories and awards submissions are successful and assist with the bids and tenders they need to win new business and drive growth.

 


Job purpose

As a PR Associate Director/Director at MD Communications, you will be reporting to the senior leadership team, leading PR activity for a number of our key accounts and playing an integral part in business development activity. Your responsibilities will include:

 

Client relationship management

  • Managing and being the main point of contact for key client accounts.
  • Campaign management for key client accounts.
  • Setting and achieving KPIs in partnership with clients.
  • Regular reporting back to clients on account activity and providing evaluation of impact.
  • Providing strategic counsel to clients.

 

Business development

  • Focus on organic growth across client accounts and generating new business leads.
  • Leading on proposals for new business and taking part in pitches with the MD Communications team.
  • Attending networking events.
  • Taking part in MD Communications marketing activity such as writing blogs, speaking on panels and seeking speaking opportunities to showcase MD Communications expertise.

 

PR and thought leadership

  • Proactively positioning clients as authoritative sources for journalists on areas of strategic importance.
  • Developing and implementing strategic communications plans for clients.
  • Develop good working relationships with key business and legal journalists.
  • Provide coaching to client media spokespeople and oversee media training.
  • Provide support to clients for day-to-day responses to press enquiries, news commentary and announcements.
  • Working with clients to proactively develop and position their thought leadership.  This includes commissioning research with media in mind and developing that to complement our clients’ wider marketing effort, or using existing research to deliver effective media outcomes.


Required qualifications and skills 

  • Experienced communications and media relations leader in the professional services and legal industries with either 5-10 years of experience for Associate Director level, or at least 10 years of experience for Director level.
  • Experienced at planning and strategy development.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Able to influence decisions in a collaborative style. A real team player.
  • A news hound with a nose for a great media story.
  • Proven issues management experience. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience of working across multiple UK regions. International experience is an advantage, particularly across Europe, UAE and the United States.
  • Gravitas and professional credibility.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, initiative taker and self-starter.
  • A strong network of media contacts across national and trade titles, with a particular emphasis on business, legal and professional services.
  • An inspiring and confident writer and speaker.
  • Experience of developing and launching data-driven thought leadership campaigns across communications channels.
