What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Leading the architecture design of Enterprise scale, Human Capital Management (HCM), Financial, Commercial, or Estates solutions, typically as implementation of Software-as-a-Service solutions.
  • Micro-service and API-led architecture design.
  • Event-based architecture design and patterns.
  • Public cloud technologies and design patterns.
  • Presenting to technical governance forums.
  • Engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.

You and your role

As a Lead Solutions Architect, you will be at the forefront of our solutions architecture innovations, supporting, guiding, and coaching a team of solutions architects.

Together you will design, maintain, and modernise systems that enable millions of citizens to access and use essential DWP services.

You will work closely with the head of role and engage with senior stakeholders to advise on architecture design strategy and steer the capability, championing best practice and innovation in the architecture and wider digital community.

You are a champion of solution communication, making the complex simple to understand.

You will:

  • Lead the delivery of the technical and architecture design elements of services.
  • Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to create value-for-money solutions.
  • Identify and implement architecture patterns.
  • Resolve technical debt to reduce ongoing IT costs.
  • Develop product roadmaps and represent designs at governance forums.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Manchester, Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Newcastle, or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £89,995.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth up to £21,050 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
