We are working closely alongside with local authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Cemetery and Crematorium Operative on a 2.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay: 16.06- 21.40 per hour Summary: The Cemetery and Crematorium Operative is a multi-skilled operational role within the Islington and Camden Cemetery Services Unit. The core purpose is to provide essential services related to the preparation and running of funerals cremations and the ongoing maintenance of the cemetery and crematorium grounds. This includes heavy manual work outdoors in all weather conditions operating specialised plant and machinery providing customer service to the public and funeral directors and working flexible hours including weekends as part of a rota. Responsibilities:Perform digging by hand or mechanical equipment to various depths using suitable shoring methods.Operate cremators and associated computerised control and recording equipment.Carry out heavy manual work outdoors in all weathers which may include moving memorial stones and other similar tasks.Adhere to the Councils Dignity for All policy and promote a commitment to equal opportunities.Locate and excavate graves to a given depth and size from written and verbal instructions Essentials: Possession of Cemetery Operatives Training Scheme Certificate (COTS) or the ability to work towards the certification.Experience of digging by hand or mechanical equipment to various depths using suitable shoring methodsWillingness and ability to undertake and complete the Cemetery Operative Training Scheme (COTS).
