What is the role?

Our Transmission Industry Year Placements provide real hands-on experience through a 12-month placement in our Project Engineering team. Throughout your placement, you will have the support of a business mentor and buddy who will provide guidance and support to enable you to reach your full potential.

Project Engineering is a core technical department within SSEN Transmission, at the centre of the transition to Net Zero. You will be trained to work on multimillion pound infrastructure projects covering innovations that will allow us to meet technological challenges.

What do I need?

To be considered for the role, you will be studying a degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or a mix of these disciplines). Our opportunities are open to students who are in their 2nd year of their degree onwards and will graduate between 2026 and 2028.

We'd love you to have some practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
