Would you like to be part of our high-profile Life Data Engineering Team?
We are seeking enthusiastic Data Engineers to be part of our innovative team which help shape the future of the life insurance business at Aviva. You'll use SQL and Python based tools like DBT and Snowflake to transform raw data from multiple systems into business focussed information that can be used for a range of purposes from Data Science, though Informational Dashboards and Reporting through to Self-service queries by analysts.
A bit about the job:
We work across all business lines, delivering data analytics solutions for pricing, risk cost and underwriting, through to customer-facing initiatives in claims, fraud and beyond.
We are looking to finding candidates who can:
- Interpret business problems and build a suitable data solution in the form of "Data Products".
- Work closely with the team of data scientists to provide data to enable them to solve business problems through data science.
- Support regular load processes and maintenance of the data environments.
- Help support with data governance processes to ensure our data is used in the right ways by the right people.
- Collaborate with other business lines supporting provision of data where appropriate, other data engineering functions and IT within Aviva sharing knowledge, ideas, and best practice.
- Experience in relational database management systems
- SQL experience (preferably SQL server management studio 2012 and Snowflake experience would be ideal) the ability to query large and complex databases using SQL
- ETL/ELT experience (SSIS packages 2005/2010, experience with "dbt" would be ideal)
- Strong data interrogation and manipulation skills and any experience in tools like DataIku, Informatica PowerCenter or similar would be advantageous.
- Understanding of data modelling techniques particularly those suited to analytical data.

- Starting salary between £30,000 - £40,000(depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity 8% of annual salary - Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva's
