About the Role - As Fulfilment Shift Manager you will be directly responsible for overseeing shift operations with responsibility for circa 40 colleagues per shift. The primary aim is to ensure the smooth and efficient processing of orders, from receiving and storing inventory to picking, packing, and shipping customer orders. You'll be the bridge between senior management and frontline staff, ensuring that operational goals are met while maintaining safety and quality standards. The Fulfilment Shift Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that a fulfilment centre operates efficiently and meets customer expectations. You'll possess the proven ability to manage teams, solve problems, and maintain high standards in directly impacting the company’s operational success and customer satisfaction


Responsibilities


  • Shift Leadership and Coordination
  • Assign and delegate tasks to team members to align with targets
  • Monitor team performance and provide real-time guidance or support as needed
  • Manage shift schedules, ensuring adequate staffing for peak periods
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve via effective Gemba walks and operational analytics
  • Operational Efficiency
  • Analyse workflow to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements
  • Ensure the timely and accurate fulfilment of orders, meeting delivery deadlines
  • Maintain quality control standards to minimize errors or returns.
  • Team Management
  • Train, coach, develop team members to improve their performance and skill sets
  • Address performance issues or conflicts promptly and effectively
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance team mora
  • Health and Safety Compliance
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure working environment
  • Conduct routine safety checks and report or address any hazards
  • Lead safety briefings and ensure adherence to workplace safety regulations
  • Oversee depot security during shift Performance Monitoring and Reporting
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including order accuracy, speed, and cost
  • Provide detailed shift reports to senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvements
  • Utilize data to forecast staffing needs and improve operational outcomes
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making
  • Address unexpected issues, such as inventory discrepancies, equipment failures, or staffing shortages, with quick and effective solutions
  • Adapt plans dynamically to accommodate shifts in demand or operational constraints
  • Collaboration with Other Departments
  • Work closely with inventory, logistics, and customer service teams
  • Communicate shift updates, and accomplishments to cross-functional teams

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
  • Time Management: Capability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-Solving: Skill in resolving issues quickly and efficiently
  • Communication: Clear and concise communication with teams and stakeholders
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • e-commerce Fulfilment: operational experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Technical/Systems: within a similar FMCG environment ideally within a multi-user
