We provide expert services in premium and bespoke product creation from concept to launch, selling finished units of a huge variety of nutrition products, as well as providing branding & product design services to our customers.


The NPD team is growing fast and we’re looking for a liquid product enthusiast to join our mission and help create exciting and successful products.


We are interested to speak to a varying level of product developers who have liquids/beverage experience, and the salary will be negotiable based on experience. 


The Role


Black Label Creations are looking for a highly motivated, intelligent, methodical and creative senior product developer to join the Product Creation team.


As Senior NPD Technologist, you will be responsible for exceptional delivery of new and exciting liquids ranging from canned drinks to nutritional gels, shots and sprays. Taking projects from concept creation to implementation at production site, you will bring your technical expertise within the beverage industry to ensure the growth of technical knowledge within the team, helping us become the leading developers of soft drinks and liquid food supplements. 


We’re looking for someone with significant NPD experience working within the drinks industry, who enjoys being hands on in the recipe kitchen to produce superior products that consumers love. You will be leading the formulation and recipe development for our expansion into the RTD and canned beverage category including functional drinks, protein RTDs and cold brew coffees. Knowledge for scaling up projects is essential including requirements for shelf-life testing and packaging trials. The role is varied, and you will also be working closely with the supply chain to source ingredients and cost the products in addition to assisting the team with the development of our core powder products.


This position requires alertness and attention to detail of procedures but there is plenty of room for working independently and on your own initiative. There will be extensive coordination with other departments, suppliers, and clients, so you'll need a high degree of communication and teamwork skills.


Key responsibilities:



  • To work within the Product Development team on all new and existing product development projects.
  • To formulate new products based on customer briefs with knowledge of ingredient organoleptic properties and cost.
  • To create and send customer samples, maintaining accurate recipe sheets and logging all required information.
  • To adapt product recipes based on customer feedback.
  • To create product specification sheets for customers.
  • To source and quote ingredients and packaging used in the manufacture of each product.
  • To ensure the smooth transition of projects from product development to production.
  • To perform pre-production organoleptic tests.

Skills Requirements:


•       5+ years experience in New Product Development within the beverage/ drinks industry

•       Bachelor’s degree in a food science or food technology related discipline 

•       Skills in product formulation are essential 

•       Skills & interest in process scale up from laboratory to factory are essential

•       Knowledgeable in nutrition and dietetics

•       Good understanding of nutritional supplements

•       Well versed with Microsoft Excel

•       Good knowledge of basic math
