Senior Removals Operations Controller

Our client is one of the leading names in the Removals Industry in the UK, and they are looking to add to their successful Operations team in London. The team run more than 25 vehicles daily and circa 80 crew.
Working as part of the Operations department, this role reports directly to the Operations Manager and is responsible for overseeing costing/scheduling and assisting the Ops Manager and European Scheduler with UK and European scheduling. You will be willing to step up and fill in for the Operations Manager in their absence. It is important you have experience working with a large fleet of removals vehicles daily.
This is a busy role and key to the smooth running of the Operations team.We are seeking an exceptional candidate with proven removals experience. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ attitude and be happy to get involved in the day to day running of the Operations department.
Removals Operations experience is essential.
Responsibilities:
- effectively with the Operations Manager and deputising in their absence
- that all labour is used to its maximum efficiency and to control road teams/crews
- vehicle capacity for onward/return journeys
- costs / reviewing budgets and reporting
- fuel, material expenditure/costs
- new processes, procedures and technologies to better serve the business
- expectations from different areas of the business
- closely with other departments to ensure our customers receive a first-class service
Skills & Qualifications:
- removals transport experience is essential
- working knowledge of EU, Worldwide and UK moving practices. Willing to undertake training necessary to gain and expand knowledge.
- scheduling experience is an advantage
- understanding of Tachographs and the Working Time Directive
- holder (desirable but not essential)
- communication skills with clear spoken and written English
- and diligent with excellent attention to detail
- problem solver: able to overcome obstacles and identify potential issues before they arise
- player with a collaborative approach to working life
- to work efficiently under pressure and able to prioritise to deliver results for our customers
- successful candidate will approach challenges with a positive and pragmatic attitude seeking solutions and ways to improve our processes
