Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Lead Engineer Seating to be based in Gaydon, The UK.THE ROLE:You will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of complete seating systems across multiple vehicle programs. This includes front and rear seats, mechanisms, comfort features, safety integration, and trim interfaces. You’ll work cross-functionally to ensure that seating systems meet performance, ergonomic, safety, and aesthetic targets while aligning with manufacturing and cost objectives.AREA OF RESPONSABILITIES:- System Design & Development:- Lead engineering activities for seating systems including structures, foam, trim, mechanisms, and electronics.- Ensure integration with vehicle architecture, occupant packaging, and restraint systems.- Cross-Functional Collaboration:- Work closely with Studio Design, Safety, Ergonomics, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.- Support virtual builds, physical prototypes, and launch activities across global sites.- Supplier Engagement:- Manage technical discussions with Tier 1 suppliers, ensuring alignment on design, tooling, and delivery.- Review and approve DFMEAs, DVPs, and PPAP documentation.- Performance & Compliance:- Ensure seating systems meet crash safety, comfort, durability, NVH, and regulatory requirements.- Validate compliance with global standards (FMVSS, ECE, ISO).- Innovation & Features:- Drive development of advanced seating features such as massage, ventilation, memory, and smart sensors.- Champion lightweight materials and sustainable design practices.- Issue Resolution & Quality:- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of seating-related issues during development and post-launch.- Support warranty investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.- Extensive experience in automotive seating systems or interior engineering.- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA V5), PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter), and CAE validation.- Strong understanding of occupant safety, ergonomics, and comfort engineering.- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Attributes- Experience with premium or luxury seating programs.- Familiarity with mechatronics, kinematics, and seat electronics integration.- Knowledge of global homologation and safety standards.- Passion for craftsmanship, user experience, and innovation.In return for bringing your expertise to our business we offer a competitive salary along with excellent benefits including:· Pension Scheme – We match employee contribution up to 5% of salary· 25 Days’ Holiday· Private Health Care· Tata Jaguar Land Rover Privilege Scheme - up to 20% off new JLR vehicles· Group Income Protection· Health Assured – Employee Assistance Program· Group Life Assurance· Health Shield – Private Health Cash PlanIf you are passionate about bringing innovation to the projects you work on and want to join a global company, then this is the place for you.Tata Technologies: Engineering a better world.Tata Technologies would like to thank all applicants for their interest, each application will be reviewed against the set criteria for the role.
