The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Group Financial Controller to join a dynamic, Private Equity-backed SaaS business poised for rapid growth. With an impressive £25m turnover and strong EBITDA, this business is embarking on an aggressive buy-and-build strategy to scale to £100m turnover and £20m EBITDA within 2–3 years, targeting a successful investment exit.

The C-Suite possesses extensive Private Equity experience, with numerous successful buy & build – realised investments to date, alongside a strong management team. This position is poised to be the final and critical piece of the puzzle to join at this early stage.

The person will need to travel to one office (every week or every other week), as there is a team of 9 that report into this person directly. The position is largely remote, extremely flexible.

The Role

The Group Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial and operational success of the business. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role demands a highly skilled finance professional to lead a team of nine in financial reporting and technical accounting, elevate the finance function to Private Equity standards, and spearhead the financial elements of M&A activity, from due diligence through to post-deal integration.

M&A Leadership: Assess and integrate prior acquisitions, as well as lead the financial diligence and integration of new acquisitions to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals.

Financial Reporting & Compliance: Oversee all financial reporting and technical accounting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and best-in-class standards.

Team Leadership: Develop, mentor, and optimize the performance of a high-performing finance team, including managing structural and personnel decisions as necessary.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with the CFO, CEO, CTO, and senior business unit leaders to drive alignment on strategic goals and deliver actionable insights.

Systems & Technology: Leverage systems expertise (ideally NetSuite) to streamline processes and enhance reporting efficiencies.

Commercial Projects: Collaborate with the FP&A lead to support critical commercial initiatives and provide financial clarity to drive growth.

The Requirements:

The successful candidate will be a proactive, strategic thinker with an excellent track record in Private Equity-backed environments. They will combine technical expertise with the ability to lead and inspire teams, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver results in a fast-paced, ambitious setting.

  • A recognized professional finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in Private Equity-backed businesses, including multiple acquisitions and demonstrated leadership in post-deal integration.
  • Exceptional technical accounting and reporting expertise, with the ability to elevate processes to PE standards.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills, with a proven ability to manage complex personnel and structural decisions.
  • Advanced systems and technology capabilities, ideally with NetSuite experience.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to challenge and influence C-suite stakeholders.
  • Flexibility for occasional travel (2–3 times per month to a key UK office), with a predominantly home-based working arrangement.

What’s on Offer

This is a rare opportunity to join a thriving SaaS business at a critical point in its growth journey. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving the business towards its ambitious goals, with the chance to make a tangible impact on its future success and investment exit.

If you are a high-calibre financial leader with the expertise and ambition to excel in this transformative role, we would love to hear from you.
