Job Opportunity: Senior Costs Lawyer/Negotiator Location: Remote Salary: (DOE) Job Type: Full-time or Part-time options available Im currently working in partnership with Medical Solicitors a highly respected Clinical Negligence law firm known for its client-first approach Lexcel accreditation and award-winning team. With offices in Sheffield York and Hull theyre now seeking a Senior Costs Lawyer/Negotiator to join their growing team. About the Role Youll play a pivotal role in supporting fee-earners on all aspects of legal costs. Depending on whether you join full-time or part-time the scope of bill drafting may vary (external support available as needed). This is a great opportunity for someone who is confident in managing their own caseload and contributing to a collaborative professional team. Key Responsibilities: Drafting N260 statements of costs and risk assessments Preparing Precedents H T S Q Z and initiating detailed assessment proceedings Negotiating costs and issuing costs proceedings where appropriate Drafting bills for inter partes detailed assessment (more so in the full-time post) Meeting WIP targets and working to case deadlines What Were Looking For 7 years of experience in costs work (preferably claimant personal injury or clinical negligence) Strong working knowledge of CPR and the detailed assessment process Proven ability to draft Bills of Costs budgets and related costs documentation Experience with Proclaim and CostsMaster advantageous Legal qualification preferred but not essential Confident working independently in a busy legal team Salary Benefits & Work-Life Balance Competitive salary: DOE Home hybrid or office-based work model 25 days holiday bank holidays Christmas shutdown 6% employer pension contributions Private medical insurance Enhanced maternity/paternity benefits And more If youre a dedicated costs professional looking to join a values-driven firm thats making a difference Id love to discuss this opportunity with you in more detail.
