As part of a dynamic team you will primarily focus on developing and delivering grid connection services projects and supporting the broader T&D business.This is an exciting time for AECOMs Energy business as the energy market and Renewable Energy in particular continues to grow. Grid connection is becoming a critical area where proponents (utility providers and private investors and developers) are seeking specialised grid connection and network planning services across various life cycles from siting to feasibility stage through to commissioning and on-going compliance monitoring during the operations phase. Our team is actively involved across both development and construction phase of the utility scale renewable energy projects throughout the UK and Ireland. Its a great time to join usHeres what youll do:The role of Senior Power Systems Engineer is an exciting and diverse opportunity for a proven Power Systems Engineer to take a step towards varied projects and work with a variety of AECOMs major Power and Energy clients throughout the UK and Ireland.Undertake detailed power system/grid code compliance studies using tools such as PowerFactory PSCAD and PSS/EUndertake grid connection due diligence including grid prospecting connection optioneering risk assessment and capacity/constraints assessmentUndertake power system studies for industrial projects such as water treatment plantsSupport the delivery of electrical design through power system studiesLead and manage medium to large scale projectsProvide guidance to entry level engineersSupport business process(es) improvement initiativesWrite bids/proposalsLiaises with OEMs and clients to drive the technical outcomes Enjoy the Perks. Take advantage of career development opportunities our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle technical practice networks AECOM University and volunteering daysQualifications : Ready to push the limits of whats possibleHeres what were looking for:Proven relevant professional experience working for an Engineering Design Consultancy or an OEM or Utility Network Planning and connectionsProven understanding of transmission and distribution planning and customer connection processes for both regulated and industrial networksStrong understanding of the UK technical requirements (UK Grid Code G99 G5/5 P28) and guidelines for connecting new generators and loads (knowledge of the Ireland Grid Code is also beneficial)Proficient in PSCAD PowerFactory and python scriptingPrior use of PSSE and ETAP expertise is desirableDemonstrated understanding of control and protection principles of high voltage substation equipment transmission lines generators transformers reactive equipment etc.Basic understanding of power electronics and control systems related to renewable technologiesExceptional levels of written and oral communication.Desirable experience: Experience in undertaking and reviewing detailed compliance studies (full suite of studies steady state harmonic / power quality dynamic and SSO or equivalent)Experience in the NESO / DNO / TO review period of compliance studies submissions (demonstrating an understanding power systems theory to support and address compliance). We celebrate diversity including neurodiversity and believe it enriches our team.
