Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Chemist to join our product development team. The successful candidate will create samples, carry out testing, and ensure the highest quality standards in our new laboratory. This position offers an exciting opportunity to formulate innovative and high-performing products. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample Production: 
  • Manufacture products on a small scale following a batch sheet. 
  • Pack-off products for testing, trails & small-scale production. 
  • Formulation Development:
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product to formulate new products and optimise existing products including skincare, haircare, body care & home care. 
  • Scale-up batches from laboratory size to full-scale production. 
  • Liaise with suppliers for samples of new raw materials and relevant documentation. 
  • Testing and Analysis:
  • Carry out a variety of tests to assess the quality, efficacy, and stability of personal care & home care products using appropriate laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures and results.
  • Arrange samples for external testing. 
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Maintain quality control measures to ensure the consistency and safety of our products.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory submissions as needed.
  • Compile INCI listings for labels.
  • Laboratory Maintenance:
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Keep on top of raw materials and consumable stock in the laboratory. 
  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping to keep the laboratory clean and organised. 


Requirements 

  • BSc or equivalent in Cosmetics Science, Chemistry, or Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least one year experience working in industry (this can include placement/sandwich year).  
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility - ability to react and respond positively to changes in priority & workload.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to liaise and work with personnel at all levels.
  • Confident using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or similar software.
