Key Responsibilities of a SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-on-one support to students with SEND, assisting with their educational and personal development.
- The SEND Teaching Assistant should assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
- Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment, promoting independence and confidence.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to implement tailored support plans for students with SEND.
- The SEND Teaching Assistant should maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to comprehensive assessments and reports.
Requirements of a SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Previously working as a Teaching Assistant with SEN experience in a mainstream school.
- Level 3 qualification is desirable.
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- SEND experience is essential.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in different educational settings.
