If you’re a Commissioning Engineer who enjoys independence, problem solving and bringing machines to life, this could be a strong fit. If you prefer routine or minimal travel, it won’t be. You’ll be joining a small but ambitious team led by someone who’s been with the company for 11 years and still genuinely loves what he does. The business has grown from a £2 million to a £20 million turnover and the commissioning department is developing quickly, which means your influence will actually matter rather than getting lost in layers of structure. Your work will be split between the workshop in Nelson and customer sites, with plenty of variety. A large part of your time will be spent commissioning machines in house before they ship. Once you’re on site, you’ll be the person fault finding, modifying PLCs, tuning performance and getting production lines running properly. UK trips tend to last a couple of days and overseas projects usually run for two to four weeks. You’ll have plenty of notice before travelling and you’ll get to work in places such as the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Tokyo and across Europe.
