Office Accountant

  • Location: Mayfair, London

Reed Finance are partnering exclusively to recruit for an experienced Office Accountant to join a prestigious private family office in Mayfair, London. This full-time role is central to the organisation, encompassing full responsibility for the accounting and bookkeeping of the London office and shareholders. The successful candidate will ensure the development and implementation of efficient accounting operations and cost-effective systems to meet our clients current and future needs.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Maintain the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
  • Conduct the closing process monthly and ensure books are closed on time.
  • Review trial balances monthly and rectify any discrepancies.
  • Validate all transactions are properly approved, checked, and verified before posting.
  • Regularly proof, age, and analyse general ledger accounts and transactions.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and address any discrepancies.
  • Set up and maintain processes for timely collection of receivables.
  • Maintain adequate audit trails and digital records for all payments.
  • Respond to external auditors’ queries to ensure timely issuance of financial statements.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare quarterly statements of account for each shareholder and respond to queries promptly.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process for office expenditure and overheads.
  • Develop, implement, and update accounting policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting & bookkeeping role.
  • Proficiency in financial accounting and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger principles and practices.
  • Experience with accounting systems, preferably Xero software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with staff and shareholders.
  • Flexible and comfortable working in a small team environment.
