This Informatics Pharmacist position is a remote working role.


What you’ll do


We give you all the training you need, so this role is ideal for a qualified pharmacist who is keen to make a career move into medical informatics and to develop their career further.


As an Informatics Pharmacist with EMIS you will author, maintain and support all clinical content within the EMIS prescribing systems, this includes clinical coding utilising SNOMED CT content and use of in-house decision support databases. You will be responsible for promoting safe and appropriate prescribing by clinicians using the EMIS clinical systems and to ensure accurate electronic records for their patients.


Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

  • To manage the processing of external sources of data such as NHS Digital and the BNF (British National Formulary).
  • To peer-review others’ work and make sound, evidence-based decisions to ensure clinical accuracy and safety of the data.
  • To author and maintain the decision support alert events through detailed analysis of product literature and medical reference sources.
  • Be proactive in ensuring the clinical safety of the clinical systems.


Who You’ll Be


We need you to be a qualified pharmacist and have a current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). With excellent accuracy and attention to detail, you will have a good understanding of the Drug Tariffs across the UK. From your pharmacy experience, you will have the ability to utilise your knowledge and professional judgment when making decisions about data authoring.


You will be a strong self-starter, with the ability to create relationships within the department and across the wider organisation stakeholders. Development is key at EMIS, you will undergo a comprehensive training program that will provide you with the required skills for this position.


Professional skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;

  • Degree in Pharmacy and registered with the GPhC.
  • Ideally a pharmacist with a background in primary care.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working.
  • Knowledge of dm+d and SNOMED CT.
  • Detailed knowledge of Drug Tariffs.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Able to adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Motivated, organised, pro-active team player - flexible and able to manage a number of concurrent projects and prioritise where necessary.
  • Excellent research skills - ability to efficiently research various reference sources and assimilate information.
  • The confidence to seek assistance and collaborate with team members when faced with challenges or unfamiliar situations.
  • Good IT skills including proficient use of Excel.
