Milestone Infrastructure is currently looking to recruit a Section Engineer (civil engineering).

As a Section Engineer, you will lead our site engineering team, who are responsible for ensuring effective engineering management in all aspects of the project including quality, handover and managing the day-to-day engineering activities on the project.


Milestone Infrastructure's Civils Project sector delivers a range of civil engineering schemes including junction improvements, structures and public realm delivered through Frameworks and existing highways term service contracts.


As the Section Engineer your duties & responsibilities will include:


  • Ensure the highest possible Health, Safety & Environmental standards are employed across the project, adhering to Milestone Infrastructure health and safety policy/environmental policy and actively supporting the safety culture that is an integral part of the Milestone Infrastructure working environment.
  • Management of all site engineering activities including engineering control, setting out, providing direction to the workforce and leading quality control systems to ensure compliance with project design and specifications.
  • Meet client expectations and ensure excellent communication skills with all project stakeholders.
  • Survey & Engineering Control -Responsible for checking all sub-contractor and direct labour works.
  • Review design and propose solutions by raising RFI's and communicating to relevant parties i.e. Designers / Subcontractors.
  • Obtaining materials approvals ahead of permanent works construction
  • Working with the Site Agent in monitoring SHEQ aspects of the project including Project Health and Safety File.
  • Assist in managing the permit process including CAT scanning and issuing Permits.
  • Keep accurate records including site diary, records of works activities, resource allocations and as-built information using AutoCAD.
  • Input into collaborative planning for site work.
  • Implement digital tools in collaboration with the project team to ensure embedment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and drive the business towards a smarter digital environment - eliminating paper-based.
  • Work with the quality function to embed new process improvements into BAU.


Skills & Knowledge Requirements:


  • An high level of experience in civil engineering and workforce supervision including earthworks; drainage, structures and Highways.
  • Skilled at setting out and surveying with both GPS and Robotic Total Stations.
  • The ability to establish effective relationships with contacts at all levels including clients, colleagues, and sub-contractors.
  • The ability to remain flexible in your approach to the role whilst embracing change and helping to drive that change.
  • Highly organised and able to manage priorities, whilst multi-tasking for many stakeholders, and remaining focussed on what is important.
  • Document review including the use of AutoCAD for planning and take off.
  • Passionate about achieving an injury-free environment, choosing to work safely and influencing others to do the same. Committed to caring for people’s safety.
