Medical Director, UK & I


The Medical Director will lead all medical activities and drive the development and execution of a designated therapy area's in-line and pipeline products.


Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of medical strategies including annual strategic planning and goal setting, launch preparation and lifecycle management, in collaboration with appropriate cross-functional teams
  • Strategic oversight across designated portfolio, including required cross functional collaboration.
  • Set the strategy for scientific engagement across a broad range of stakeholders to strengthen external understanding of the unmet need and value of the product(s) and asset(s)
  • Line management of Medical Advisors, Scientific Communications and MSL's
  • Serve as a senior member of Business Unit Leadership Team developing strategy
  • Own specific KOL relationships
  • Country brand ambassador to Global teams


Requirements:

  • Medical degree and full GMC registration
  • Pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle and commercialisation process knowledge with advanced understanding of other functions; including Global Development, Commercial, Safety and Regulatory
  • Solid understanding national & regional healthcare system, policies, reimbursement & strategies.
  • Deep understanding of own & competitor marketplace, customers and products
  • Deep understanding of evidence generation process
  • Skilled at engagement, scientific exchange with external medical community
  • Extensive people leadership
  • Proven experience as a final ABPI signatory
  • Experience in Cardiovascular and/or Obesity is a bonus
