Your Role?

  • Manage workshop production to ensure projects meet quoted hours and budgets.
  • Monitor capacity and advise management on potential shortfalls or overtime needs.
  • Update job statuses and assist in forward production planning.
  • Oversee transport of subcontracted work and materials, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting defects or discrepancies.
  • Support the estimating process as needed.


Commercial Duties:


  • Collate daily job sheets and review non-productive time.
  • Conduct stock audits, address stock discrepancies, and request purchase orders for consumables.


Health & Safety:


  • Ensure risk assessments and method statements are followed, and report noncompliance.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and maintain up-to-date HSE records.
  • Report accidents and near misses and ensure the team understands reporting procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment, following fire and safety regulations.


Quality Control:


  • Ensure all work follows company procedures and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Maintain material traceability and documentation for costing.
  • Ensure subcontractors and staff comply with company HSE, quality, and environmental policies.
  • Provide continuous improvement feedback to management.


Team Leadership:


  • Motivate and develop staff for optimal performance.
  • Conduct daily briefings, tool box talks, and address any performance issues.
  • Ensure new employees are properly inducted and trained.
  • Communicate training needs and ensure tasks are completed during staff absences.


Your Experience?

Essential

  • Client facing (ability to liaise with customers and suppliers)
  • Working to engineering standards.
  • Experience with pipe fitting
  • Experience supervising a workshop team within the industry
  • IT literate (computer skills)


Desirable

  • Experience of structural fabrications
  • Experience of vessel manufacture
  • NEBOSH (willing to work towards)
