DescriptionThe Service & Team:We are looking to recruit 2 Full-time and 1 Part-time Youth Engagement Officers to work as part of the Youth Engagement provision(YEP) to deliver the Cornwall Youth Hub project in collaboration with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and Cornwall Council. Youth Engagement Officers will be required to proactively identify and develop additional opportunities for collaborative initiatives between the business sector and education.The RoleThis role is centred on empowering young people aged 16-24 who are economically inactive unemployed or individuals who are not in education employment or training to enable their integration into mainstream employment and training opportunities.The Youth Engagement Officer role involves working within our Youth Engagement Provision to support these individuals into employment. The role will have a specific focuson working with our Youth Hubs to provide a range of services to our target audience with the ultimate objective of supporting these individuals into employment training or educational opportunities.The Youth Engagement Officers will recruit and support young people facing barriers to employment or engagement in training playing a key role in providing intensive and wraparound support to individuals guiding them towards mainstream provision and employment. Officers will create personalised action plans with participants to help them overcome their barriers and advance their entry into the workforce.Working closely with employers and skills sectors the role-holder will identify employment opportunities which align with the needs and aspirations of participants and the local labour market. They will possess current knowledge of 15-25yrs developments encompassing skills and work-related learning and Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) education. Combined with good knowledge of labour market information they will inform the creation of tailored employability programs actively involving participants in the process.The employability program will lead to quality structured opportunities including work experience placements and employer taster sessions which will be designed to progress participants into suitable employment or training pathways. The role holder will be responsible for thorough follow-up work with participants and employers to address any ongoing support needs ensuring sustained success.The role holder needs to be committed to facilitating employment education and training opportunities for people for whom Health Conditions Special Educational Needs (SEND) and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues present a barrier to employment. The role holder needs to have extensive experiencing of working with Young People aged 16-24 especially in group settings as well as demonstrable experience of working as part of a team to bring success.You will work closely with the wider Employment and Enterprise team and other services within Cornwall Council Education to ensure work is complimentary coordinated and not duplicated.These positions are initially for 6 months fixed term period however we hope to be in a position to extend this subject to successful funding requests.This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check.Working Pattern:Monday to Friday 37 hours per week.What youll need to succeed:This role requires a strong commitment to empowering young people aged 1624 who are economically inactive unemployed or not in education employment or training. You will have extensive experience working with young people particularly in group settings and a proven ability to provide intensive wraparound support. Knowledge of labour market information careers education and employability programs is essential along with the ability to create personalised action plans and deliver structured opportunities such as work experience and employer engagement.
