We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Westminster to assist with the appointment of an Environmental Health Officer Food/Health on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay: 30.00 - 39.58 per hour Summary: The Environmental Health Officer (EHO) will play a key role in protecting public health across Westminster. The postholder will conduct food hygiene inspections (including new premises and Category AD inspections) investigate food safety and health & safety complaints and undertake RIDDOR investigations. The role involves engaging with businesses residents and visitors to educate enforce and ensure compliance with statutory food and health & safety legislation. This is a front-line role requiring excellent technical knowledge sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills to influence behaviour resolve issues and take proportionate enforcement action when necessary. Responsibilities: Carry out programmed and unannounced food hygiene inspections (AD categories) and new premises inspections in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice.Investigate food complaints health & safety incidents and RIDDOR reportable accidents.Assess risk and determine appropriate interventions to secure compliance and protect public health.Prepare case files serve statutory notices (HIN HEPN IN PNs) and where necessary initiate legal proceedings and present evidence in court.Provide clear practical advice to businesses and individuals on food law and health & safety compliance. Requirements: Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent qualification).Registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB) or Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Register.Must meet the Food Standards Agency competency framework contained within the Food Law Code of Practice. Experience: Proven experience in conducting food hygiene and food standards inspections.Experience in accident investigations including RIDDOR cases.Involvement in prosecutions legal proceedings and presenting evidence in court.Experience in preparing and serving statutory notices.Experience of responding to complaints and enquiries in a regulatory environment.Experience in case management evidence gathering and liaising with solicitors and other enforcement bodies.
