The role requires someone who can write stories including breaking news in one of the busiest teams in the BBC.WHY JOIN THE TEAMBe at the heart of political journalism with a role covering the biggest stories shaping the nation. Based in Westminster youll have insight great political knowledge and thrive under pressure.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACTApply knowledge of British politics and governmental institutions to inform accurate and insightful journalism.Research and write high-quality political content for digital platforms drawing on substantial experience in journalism.Monitor and respond rapidly to breaking political news ensuring timely and relevant coverage in a fast-paced newsroom environment.Collaborate within a high-profile editorial team demonstrating resilience under pressure.Generate original story ideas and identify emerging political trends to engage and grow the audience.Maintain editorial standards and contribute to shaping the political news agenda through informed reporting.Identify and write stories that reflect every facet of audience interest and the evolving political landscapeYOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEESSENTIAL CRITERIAExperienced writer working to tight deadlines and across fast moving and breaking news stories.Excellent knowledge and understanding of all aspects of UK politics at Westminster and across the UK.Ability to come up with ideas and spot trends in politics likely to engage the audience and attract new and underserved readers.A strong background and demonstrable evidence of writing breaking and continuing stories.
