We are now looking for a Senior Power Systems Engineer Railway Systems with deep expertise in railway electrification grid compliance and EMC/power quality to join our growing team.Job DescriptionAs the Senior Power Systems Engineer- Railway Systems see you shape the technical direction of complex rail electrification projects influencing design from pre-bid all the way through to delivery. Youll work on multi-megawatt power systems advanced converter technologies and ensure robust compliance with Network Rail and Grid Code standards.Youll be the go-to technical expert within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers applying modelling simulation and innovation to electrify rail networks more reliably efficiently and sustainably.What Youll Do Act as the technical authority on railway power systems power quality and EMC impacts Design and model multi-MW rail electrification systems including power converters and protection schemes Provide guidance to cross-functional engineering manufacturing and delivery teams Lead technical analysis using tools such as MATLAB Simulink ETAP or DigSilent Support full lifecycle project activity from pre-bid tendering through to execution and validation Ensure all solutions comply with applicable Network Rail national grid and international standards Represent GE in technical discussions with customers suppliers and industry bodies Contribute to the ongoing power systems strategy for rail and utilities within the UK and globally Drive innovation and technology adoption to meet the demands of future railway infrastructure Collaborate with sales and business development teams in technical workshops and customer engagement Support timely and quality-driven project delivery balancing cost and performance.What Youll Bring Degree in Electrical/Power Engineering ideally with a focus on power systems Significant experience in railway power systems grid connection and power quality/EMC Strong knowledge of power electronic converter systems in rail or industrial settings Track record of designing or reviewing rail electrification systems (HV/MV/LV) Familiarity with engineering tools such as MATLAB Simulink ETAP or DigSilentWhat Will Make You Stand Out Experience working on UK rail infrastructure or similar regulated transport/power projects Ability to lead multiple technical workstreams in a fast-paced evolving project environment Strong stakeholder communication and technical presentation skills Detail-oriented approach with the ability to explain complex systems clearly Experience embedding safety and compliance into technical designs Full UK driving licence Willingness to travel (UK and international short term)Why GE Vernova Power Conversion Work at the forefront of rail decarbonisation and infrastructure modernisation Influence high-impact complex systems across the full engineering lifecycle Collaborate with a world-class team focused on sustainability electrification and innovationYou can expect from usChallenging and exciting projects.A work environment where we understand that not everyone has the same expectations about their jobs careers and work-life balance and we are happy to discuss flexibility requirements.Attractive compensation.Flexible benefits so you can build a package that fits your personal needs.
