We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Inquiries and Decisions Officers on a 2.5-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration. Rate of Pay: 22.51- 30.09 per hour Summary: This is a frontline role within the Housing Needs service for the London Borough of Islington. The primary purpose of the Inquiries and Decisions Officer is to handle the assessment enquiries and main duty decisions (for both singles and families) relating to homelessness applications under the relevant legislation. The role operates within the Housing Needs and Strategy service area reports to the Homeless Assessment Manager and is graded at SO2. The work must be conducted with the highest professional customer care standards providing a responsive empathetic and trauma-informed service. A key objective is to promote the spirit of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the prevention of homelessness Responsibilities: Responsibility for assessment enquiries and making main duty decisions (for singles and families) under relevant homelessness legislation and informing applicants of the Councils decisionEnsuring responsibilities for the safeguarding of adults and children at risk are met and supporting Council initiatives for complex and vulnerable persons (e.g. rough sleepers victims of domestic abuse asylum seekers/refugees care leavers).Ensuring effective implementation and adherence to processes and protocols with Social Services for discharging statutory joint obligations and dutiesSupporting the Homeless Assessment Manager with detailed information for Councillor enquiries complaints and Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) enquiries. Ensuring verbal and written communication is clear in plain English and conforms to customer service standardsUndertaking periodic home visits as required during the enquiries process for main duty applications Essentials: Experience of working with vulnerable members of the public in a housing health or social care field within a diverse inner-city environmentExperience in conducting homeless assessments and reaching decisions on complex homeless cases.Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to homelessness and housing need including the Housing Act Homelessness Code of Guidance Homeless Reduction Act and Domestic Abuse Act with the ability to apply this legislation in a homelessness contextAbility to adhere to the Councils Equalities policies and CARE values (collaborative ambitious resourceful and empowering) Please note: You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.You should have right to work in U.KThis role requires an Enhanced DBS Disclaimer: Brackenberry Ltd is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
