Job DescriptionGrade UE06: £34,610 – £39,906 Per AnnumCorporate Services Group / Bioresearch & Veterinary Services (BVS)Open-Ended (Permanent)Full Time: 35 Hours Per WeekThe OpportunityTo ensure the day-to-day activities within a BVS animal facility at the University of Edinburgh are completed to the highest standards and assist I maintaining the effective operation of the Facility. To provide training and support to BVS technicians.EssentialYour skills and attributes for success:Relevant academic/vocational qualifications at HNC level and significant work experience at a senior grade in an animal facility (Desirable).Hold a Home Office Personal Licence.NACWO qualification (Desirable).Proven ability to supervise and mentor members of staff.Proven ability to effectively and clearly communicate to a wide variety of staff and researchers at all levelsDemonstrable knowledge of IT systems including Word, Excel and databases.Ability to provide authoritative technical advice to management and other staff members.DesirableRegistered Animal Technician (RAnTech) professional statusExperience in the maintenance of complex transgenic breeding programs.Experience in surgical techniquesExperience specifically with Tick@Lab Facility Management database.Experience in working with immunocompromised coloniesClick to view a copy of the full Job DescriptionAs a valued member of our team you can expect: A competitive salary An exciting, positive, creative, challenging and rewarding place to work.
