Location: West Yorkshire, UK (Hybrid Working Available)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Commercial Contracts Legal Director to join a leading organisation based in West Yorkshire. This pivotal role will offer the opportunity to lead and manage a team of legal professionals while providing high-level strategic advice on complex commercial contracts and agreements.

As the Legal Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the drafting, negotiation, and management of a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier contracts, licensing agreements, service level agreements, and joint ventures. You will play a key role in driving business objectives, ensuring legal compliance, and minimising risks for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of legal professionals, providing guidance on complex legal issues and professional development.
  • Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and management of a variety of commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and legal best practices.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders, including on risk management, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, finance, and operations, to ensure contract terms support business goals and mitigate legal risks.
  • Manage high-value and complex contracts, ensuring adherence to governance procedures and best practices.
  • Review and update internal policies and procedures in line with changing legislation and industry standards.
  • Stay up to date with developments in commercial law, industry trends, and regulatory changes, ensuring the business remains compliant and competitive.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with a strong background in commercial contracts, with at least 8+ years of post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in managing and negotiating complex commercial agreements across a variety of sectors.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop legal talent.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK commercial law.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
