Position Summary: We are seeking dedicated and compassionate caretakers to join our team. As a caretaker at Empowering Learning, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include general maintenance, security, and ensuring the overall well-being of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facility Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, repairing, and organising classrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Ensure proper functioning of heating, ventilation, and lighting systems.
  • Address minor repairs promptly and report major issues to the facilities manager.
• Security and Safety:
  • Monitor access points and enforce security protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety checks, including fire alarm tests and emergency exit inspections.
  • Respond to emergencies (e.g. spills, accidents) and follow established procedures.
• Groundskeeping:
  • Maintain outdoor spaces, including lawns, gardens, and walkways.
  • Clear snow, leaves, and debris as needed.
• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with teaching staff, administrators, and other caretakers to ensure a cohesive and efficient operation.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown.
• Customer Service:
  • Interact with students, parents, and visitors in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Provide directions and answer basic inquiries.
• Other Duties:
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in caretaking, janitorial work, or facility management preferred.
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment.
