Job Overview:

In Arm's Central Technology group we are building trail-blazing future technology which will keep Arm-based products redefining the state-of-the-art. We are looking for a hardworking Principal System Architect to join us as part of the CT-Systems Applied Computer Vision Team. This team is responsible for multimedia and vision oriented algorithm design, technology research, as well as next-gen Arm Multimedia Subsystem Architecture for mobile, large screen compute and other market segments. Are you passionate about shaping the future of multimedia and vision compute at Arm? Do you want to see the architectures you have invented being used by millions of people? We may be looking just for you

Responsibilities:
  • You will be part of a multimedia oriented, system architecture team, giving you the opportunity to develop and make a relevant contribution into Arm compute subsystems.
  • The role will give you also outstanding opportunity to interact with world class specialists and architects, both inside and outside Arm
  • The role offers analysing sophisticated computer vision, multimedia and graphics use cases, and data paths in the compute subsystem, and translating their compute, memory bandwidth and power requirements into heterogeneous system architecture concepts
  • This System Architect role asks for deep understanding of both hardware architectures of multimedia, vision and AI accelerators (DPU, VPU, GPU), as well as their driver stacks and control software in the context of Android OS
  • You will contribute to Arm Compute Subsystem architecture definition work by writing system architecture specifications, as well as by bringing architecture concepts for novel technologies, evaluated with the use of system performance models
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Expertise in media subsystem architecture (both hardware and algorithms), understanding real use case data-flows in modern heterogeneous compute platforms, with complex interconnect and memory systems
  • Experience in analysis of power and performance of media and vision use cases, also with inclusion of AI compute, their data paths for Client devices, as well as control software, drivers and APIs
  • In depth understanding of various system design trade-offs: hardware vs. software partitioning, power, performance, memory bandwidth, latency, quality-of-service, real-time vs. non-real-time traffic
  • Understanding of the Android software stacks and APIs associated with the Multimedia and Graphics processor hardware. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to different Operating Systems, when required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams under ambitious schedules, with a focus on delivery of results
"Nice to Have" Skills and Experience:
  • Expertise in the field of Computer Vision, Machine Learning, AI, as well as image/video signal processing
  • Knowledge of Arm architecture, AMBA protocol, MMU concepts
  • Knowledge of video compression algorithms and hardware video accelerators
